This article defines the place of media education in the secondary school in the context of specialized education. An integrated and selective approach to the process of developing media literacy and the formation of media education competencies among students in the biology class of the secondary schools of the Republic of Abkhazia is analyzed. The value-targeted and informative potential of media resources and media technologies is defined.
