Relevance. The features of the process of forming the image of a country through media tools that reflect and shape the opinions, attitudes and behavior of people are considered, that is, they are used as a tool to achieve various goals, including strengthening national unity, achieving social progress, or, conversely, to manipulate public consciousness. Current international politics has a significant impact on the image of Russia in foreign media. The purpose and objectives of the work were to identify key aspects of the image of Russia formed by foreign media (using the example of American and British media). The results are presented and a sociological study of the content of articles covering various aspects of attitudes towards Russia has been conducted. The data obtained allowed us to conclude that the image of Russia in these media is predominantly negative. The focus is on foreign policy, military conflicts and economic difficulties, which reflects the perception of Russia as a country of concern and fear in the international arena.
