Patriotism formation by means of regional studies

Political changes of recent years have actualized the problem of patriotic education of the younger generation. The author points out the need for all social institutions to solve the issue of developing patriotism in education process and highlights regional studies as a means of patriotism upbringing. The analysis of the literature on the topic of patriotism upbringing of younger generation was made. The concepts of “education work”, “civil-patriotic education”, “patriotism”, “regional studies”, “social partners” were specified. The main directions of cooperation between school and the institutions of science and culture were singled out. The author underlines the need to use a variety of forms and methods of excursion and tourism activities with children and adolescents. The system of values of the national idea “Мәңгілік Ел” was presented. The features of regional studies activities at school, the conditions for successful local history work during extra-curriculum activities, the role of the library in the upbringing of younger generation, as well as the importance of professional support of research activity were determined.
