The formation of professional qualities of an interpreter: Russian and Chinese languages

This article is related to the features of oral translation activities that are considered essential for professional Chinese interpreters. Our research is based on the result of a survey conducted among Chinese students, interpreters and employers. The objective was to analyze the peculiarities of oral translation activities, to identify the personality traits that are considered crucial for professional Chinese translator in particular; and at the same time, to raise challenges that the Chinese education system is facing in relation to the training of highly professional interpreters. The relevance of research on this article is determined by the development of cooperation between China and Russia, and great demands on quality interpreters in the Chinese society. In the conclusion of this article, the tasks that lie ahead of the Chinese education system are formulated, in the preparation of professional interpreters.
