The formation of strategic directions for the prevention of drug addiction among young people at the present stage

Introduction. The current situation in the Russian Federation in the field of illicit trafficking and illegal consumption of narcotic drugs, as well as psychotropic substances, poses a serious threat to public health, the country’s economy, law and order, and state security. To date, there are problems both in the legislative framework related to the fight against drugs, and in the educational process of institutions of learning. In this regard, it is necessary to name the purpose of the study, which is to take urgent measures aimed at improving preventive work with young people. Methods. The study is based on such methods as logical, systematic, formal-legal, as well as the methods of analysis, synthesis and other methods of scientific knowledge. Results. On the basis of the study, it is revealed that to combat drug addiction among young people, it is necessary to form strategic directions for the prevention both in the legislative framework related to the fight against drugs and in the bringing-up process of educational organizations. Conclusions. To effectively combat this problem, it is necessary to pay special attention to preventive work. The implementation of such prevention is entrusted to the internal affairs bodies, the bodies and institutions (organizations) of the healthcare system, education, social protection, youth affairs, the commissions for minors and the protection of their rights, in whose activities numerous violations continue to occur that negatively affect the general state of the fight against drug addiction.
