Functional significant thyroid remnant after radical surgery of differentiated thyroid carcinoma: diagnostics and influence on the follows radioiodine therapy

Purpose: identification of criteria of functional significant thyroid remnant in patients with differentiated thyroid carcinoma after radical surgery and reviewing the influence of thyroid cancer on the follows radioiodine therapy. Material and methods: the retrospective study of 89 cases (69 females, 20 males, age 12-73) of differentiated thyroid carcinoma was made. Patients received combination treatment (radical surgery and two-stage radioiodine therapy) between 2011 and 2014. Levels of thyreotrophin, thyroglobulin thyroglobulin antibodies, results of neck ultrasonography, pre therapeutic scintigraphy with 99mTc-pertechnetate and post therapeutic whole-body scintigraphy with 131I were analysed.
