Functional and roentgenomorphologic changes of the lungs in patients with diabetes mellitus

Ninety one patients aged from 16 to 66 years having diabetes mellitus of both types were observed. Doppler echocardiography, test with perindopril, pulmonary multislice computer tomography of high resolution, detailed study of pulmonary parenchyma were performed. Specific of diabetes mellitus roentgenomorphologic changes were revealed: focal shades of round and oval form of size 2 - 5 mm, thickenings of interlobular septa and veins and symptom of frosted glass. Thus, disorders of pulmonary gemodynamics and roentgenomorphologic changes in pulmonary parenchyma in the patients with diabetes mellitus can be considered as signs of specific pulmonary lesions - diabetic pneumopathy. Such changes are due to microcirculatory disorders.
