The article presents a study of K. N. Leontiev’s futurological scenarios, which he wrote about in 1888-1891. It refutes the opinion widespread in historiography that at the end of his life Leontiev accepted VI. S. Soloviev’s thesis about Russia’s exclusively religious mission and lost faith in the cultural mission. In letters to his acquaintances, Leontiev continued to express his hopes for "cultural creation", that is, developing a new East Slavic historical-cultural type (system of views). Particular attention is paid to Leontiev’s attitude to socialism in the eschatological perspective. In 1888-1891, Leontiev showed increased attention to socialism, viewing it in a special way (as "new feudalism" and "future slavery", implying a rigid organization of society and emergence of new class groups), which, as he believed, could delay the onset of "world mixing", which would be followed by an eschatological finale.
