The article is devoted to the methodological analysis of gastronomic space of St. Petersburg, which is not just a geographical point on the map, but primarily a social and cultural space. A look from a certain point of view makes it possible to identify its gastronomic specifics. It is reproduced in everyday actions - when buying and preparing food; in food production and trade industries; by food bloggers -producers of food-related meanings; by culinary schools; by gastronomic websites; writers who place their heroes in St. Petersburg, etc. This gastronomic space is a social system with many players, a set of rules, norms, restrictions and values. In economic sociology of nutrition, not only people's attitudes to nutrition (tastes and preferences) and the process of nutrition (social differentiation or integration) are distinguished, but also the structures of production, exchange, distribution and consumption (including cooking) of food products. Individual action is placed in the social space and is determined by material structures (material, temporal, historical, economic). In order to understand how this system works, you need a methodology and the most general is the economic and sociological approach to the analysis of nutrition systems.
