Gender problematics in the writings by Clement of Alexandria

Бесплатный доступ

In the article passages from the works of Clement of Alexandria are analyzed, where he, after the biblical texts, gives the Father and the Son mother properties. It is noted that the source of criticism of this author, who taught about the ontological equality of men and women, about the latter is not actually Christian, but antique. It is shown that respect for women in Byzantium was manifested both in the statements of the Fathers of the Church, as in the role played by women in the political and cultural life of the Roman Empire in late Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
