Gender content of V. Stern’s creativity

The article examines the significance of one of the foundations of V. Stern’s differential psychology - gender and age differentiation. It is proved that V. Stern made a more significant contribution to the theory of gender than is commonly believed; moreover, his work in this aspect is simply ignored. The integration of sex/gender foundations into science, in this case psychology, is shown. Based on his works, the content of the approach to the study of sexual differences is revealed: differentiation within gender, the role of biosocial determinants in this, applied significance for psychology and pedagogy, which speaks about the gender dimension of sex in terms of the composition of the characteristic features of the concept “gender”. The evolution of V. Stern's views on this subject is traced. The importance of not only theoretical, but also practical and organizational activities of the scientist in generalizing, systematizing, and disseminating the experimental results obtained has been revealed. The significant contribution of V. Stern is noted as an outstanding representative of the emerging gender direction of experimental pedagogy in the development of general gender theory.
