Gender preferences in the choice of learning style by Chinese students

Statement of the problem. The article analyzes gender inequality in education in the People’s Republic of China. The learning style is one of the factors of students’ individual differences, and it is a kind of holistic, persistent and personalized consciousness that students manifest in learning, cognitive methods and information processing. The problem of sexual differences has been actively discussed and studied in foreign psychology since 1957. In Russian psychology, research on sexual differences dates back to the works of B.G. Ananyev and his students. At the same time, only recently the research of Russian psychologists has intensified in this area. It has become a serious problem for Chinese students to choose one or another form of educational cognitive activity from a gender perspective [Balykhina, Zhao Yujiang, 2019, p. 16]. This article is devoted to the study of the style of educational and cognitive activity of male and The purpose of our study is to identify what gender preferences exist among Chinese students in choosing the style of educational cognitive activity. The methodology of the research. The methodology of the study was the analysis and generalization of scientific concepts on the problem of gender psychology (V.A. Geodakyan, I.S. Kletsina), as well as practical Russian experience. The method of theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific literature devoted to the study of gender differences of students, styles of educational activity, as well as the study of the mentality of Chinese students was used in the work. Research results. A comparative characteristic of the organization of boys and girls is given, gender trends in relation to the style of educational activity are revealed. The revealed gender preferences may be related to the social expectations that are placed on men and women in Chinese society. These results will be useful for teachers who can adapt their learning style to the preferences of students.
