The following findings have been compiled through a comparative clinical study of 462 alcohol addicts over 60 of both genders. Based on the analysis of such indicators as the frequency and reoccurrence of hospitalization of male and female senior addicts, distribution of their age, education, marital, and social status, some gender-specific socio-demographic factors affecting the onset of alcoholism in this type of patients have been established. Alcohol abuse prevention targets among the elderly have also been developed.
