Gender stereotypes are social perceptions, patterns and mental assessments that arise on the basis of specific perception of men and women of different social phenomena and are formed in different social conditions. Stereotypes are an important part of the cliches and standards that reflect people's subjective ideas about the social roles of men and women. They may or may not be scientifically substantiated and may, on the contrary, be refuted by members of the thinking community. As a rule, gender stereotypes are generalized and do not take into account people's individual differences, but the social perceptions generated by them are difficult to change once formed and fixed in the minds of members of society, which hinders people's ability to accept new things or seriously affects interpersonal communication. It is this aspect of the phenomenon underlies the relevance of its study: it is extremely important for sociologists to investigate gender stereotypes in terms of their impact on society and processes within it, including in the field of economic relations.
