The genius of the place: the images of S. A. Esenin in the modern socio-cultural space

This article is devoted to the analysis of the forms of localization and functioning of the phenomenon of “the genius of place”, personified by the image of S.A. Esenin, in cultural symbols and texts of the socio cultural space of the Ryazan region. In the context of the study, the socio cultural space is considered as a set of society, cultural symbols of the spatial environment and an information and communication system, in the structure of which cultural and educational, axiological, informational, semiotic and communicative subspaces are distinguished. In the course of the work, the activities of Ryazan educational and scientific institutions, culture and art, public organizations, mass media were investigated in the context of perpetuating the collective memory of S.A. Esenin and popularizing the image of the great poet a native of the Ryazan land. Visual landscape objects, sculptural and architectural structures, toponyms and ergonyms, outdoor advertising, etc. are also considered as channels and mechanisms for transmitting information within the socio cultural space.
