The paper contains an analysis of the semantics of verb predicates, verbalizing the properties of perceptual space in a descriptive text, organized in the form of a semantic field with the isolation of the dominant component, the core and a number of peripheral zones. The dominant component is the semantics of existence in space. The paper deals with the predicates of visual perception, traditionally associated with spatial verbalization and making up the core zone of the analyzed field. The nearest periphery consists of expressive, stylistically limited and occasional units. The following peripheral zones of the semantic space field are represented by intermodal (representations of the auditory, olfactory, tactile and gustatory perception) and action predicates implicitly expressing the semantics of space in the text of the type “description” and united by the general semantics of existence. Descriptive texts of artistic style were used as material for the study.
