The article analyzes the collection of papers titled “A Class of Russian Professors: Creators of Statuses and Meanings» (Moscow, 2013). The author largely considers the methodology and research methods used by the authors of the papers. Some of the analyzed theoretical and methodological principles are criticized by the author. It is concluded that judging by its content the publication in question can hardly be viewed as an academic monograph, with some statements being anti-scientific and some of the offered definitions of very important concepts ( such as “university”, and some others ) being boundary-blurring
