Some letters of St. Macarius and St. Ambrose of Optina tell of a miracle, which happened in close proximity to the relics of St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythus. This miracle is associated with the name of the great Russian writer Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol. Gogol's correspondence helps to specify the date of the writer's stay in Corfu.
