This study focused on allel and genotype distribution of MTHFR gene in healthy and arterial hypertension (AHT) patients of Kazakh ethnicity has revealed no significant differences. Some data obtained indicate a statistically significant increase in the occurrence of T677 allel of MTHFR gene associated with the increase in homocysteine and markers of endothelium damage in AHT patients, as well as in those with tainted heredity. The results of this study demonstrate that genetic disorder, which increases the homocysteine level and endothelium damage markers, is a risk factor for development of ischemic stroke in Kazakh people.
