Public support for preventing bankruptcy of distressed companies: foreign experience and opportunities for Russia

The article examines foreign experience of state support for preventing bankruptcy of troubled companies. To ensure such support in Russia, the author proposes the following: stimulating negotiations on preventive restructuring under court protection, improving the methodology for analyzing troubled businesses and conducting financial restructuring, achieving transparency in preventive transactions and information about problem assets, developing an institute of independent consultants on preventive restructuring and providing methodological assistance to participants in the process, the formation of judicial practice that encourages such restructuring and the popularization of successful cases.
