The Russian civil war in the views of the modern students

The article is devoted to clarifying the ideas of the modern Krasnodar youth about the Russian Civil war, its causes, events and impact on the life of the country. The survey was attended by the 1st year students of several Humanities directions of the Kuban state University. Sociological research has revealed the presence of rather disparate and unclear knowledge about the events which took place a century ago. The main source of information for respondents is the school program on history, which is better remembered by those who passed the exam in this subject. Also, students learn about the Civil war from works of art and the media. Unlike the Great Patriotic War, the Civil War is not a consolidating event and it is practically not discussed in families. All respondents noted a strong enough impact of the events on the further life of the country, leaning to the fact that this influence cannot be called unambiguously positive or negative.
