Characteristics of media education in the general educational institutions of Murmansk

The article presents the results of the study of media education in the general educational institutions of Murmansk (in progymnasiums, lyceums, gymnasiums and schools). The article also defines the relevance and significance of media education, defines it, outlines its tasks. The analysis of school mass media is presented, their features of their functioning are singled out, and also activity of sections and electives of journalistic orientation is considered. Features of school media education in Murmansk are singled out.
