“It feels good to trust you” (letters of A. S. Bukhareva to V. V. Rozanov, 1903-1909, with a preface and comments to the publication)

The letters of A. S. Bukhareva expose V. V. Rozanov’s motivation for publishing these documents. It was a real struggle for the rehabilitation of the former clergyman’s widow in the mass human consciousness. A. S. Bukhareva urged the journalist to bring to the fore the true moral image of her husband, whose purity of faith doomed him to suffering. For her, the main point in her relationships with the philosopher was his unique opportunities to arouse an interest of a wide readership in the spiritual heritage of Fr. Theodore (A. M. Bukharev). The publication of letters opens up a possibility to analyze the meanings of the author’s text selections. A reconstruction of the author’s original text with editing versions for printing has been carried out. The text cutouts made at request of A. S. Bukhareva reveal her desire to avoid doing any harm to the persons mentioned in the letters. The cutouts were made to retain good relations with them. The recovered notes on the letters indicate V. V. Rozanov’s desire to bring his correspondent’s letters to the general reader as soon as possible.
