The article demonstrates the process of the beginning of Christianization of the Perm Ural region. The authors distinguish three stages in the appearance of Christian symbols in the Upper Kama region in the early Middle Ages. The first stage (the third quarter - the end of the 1 millenium) is associated with the appearance of precious utensils, st silverware and coins from Central Asia and the Eastern Roman Empire in the Upper Kama and Sylven-Irene regions. Those artifacts led to the appearance of cruciform pendants in the decoration of female costumes of the Nevolino and Lomovatovo cultures (VIII-IX centuries). The second stage (XI-XIV centuries) is associated with Ancient Rus, which exerted a serious influence not only on the West-Finnish primitive periphery, but also on the East-Finnish communities of the Northern Dvina and Upper Kama basins. It was from the northern regions of Ancient Rus that a stream of Western European silver coins flowed. Christians have already come to the analyzed territory. Their appearance at the adjacent territories of the Vychegda basin dates back to the 12 century. However, it is premature th to talk about the activities of Orthodox missionaries on the territory of Perm the Great until the 15 century. The th local population could join the Christian symbolism, applying it for their sacred pagan needs. The third stage (XV - XVI centuries) is associated with the beginning of the Christianization of Perm the Great, which is reflected in the Christian “ subjects of personal piety ” and the presence of Christian necropolises.
