Chronotope as the basis of the artistic world in the dramatic discourse of the XX century

This article discusses the formal content category of time and space on the example of Russian dramaturgy of the 20th century. The type of chronotope and its dominant category are determined. The specificity of time and space in dramatic discourse is described. Modernist drama is opposed to classical realistic drama - time is characterized by fluidity, and space is unreality. The basis of the plot composition and the filling of the chronotope is the internal and external conflict, which is characterized by a binary opposition.
