Artistic personification of gender opposition of feminity/masculinity in the Russian literature of the second half of the XIXth century (on the material of N.D. Khvoschinskaya’s novel "Big dipper")

In the article the important issue of display of gender roles in the cultural situation of Russia in the second half of the ХIХth centuryis considered on the example of N.D.Khvoshchinskaya's novel «The Big Dipper», which was greatly popular in 1870s. It is stated that new gender roles are modeled in the novel and they coincide the proper cultural, psychological and social expectations of Russian reality.
