The article considers the concept of frontier in two aspects. On the one hand the definition of “artist-padegogue” intends the frontier of two directions of creative activity - art and pedagogical. The distinct frontier between them is difficult to identify because they all rolled into one in a creative activity of one or another person. The creative personality conceives their unity as logical and harmonious continuation of a creative activity. On the hand we can talk about the frontier of a provincial and a capital. The meaning of this feature consists in the same art phenomenon appearing not only in a capital but also in a province. We use the concept of a capital (Moscow and Saint-Petersburg) and a province (Yaroslavl) not as geopolitical notions but as cultural definitions
