I. A. Goncharov in V. G. Druzhinin's memoirs

The fragment of memoirs of the famous historian V.G.Druzhinin containing the description of his meeting with I.A.Goncharov in the last years of the writer's life is given in the article. Being the earliest, V.G.Druzhinin's reminiscence specifies the question of Goncharov's appearance, the furnishings of his study, the writer's communication style. The dedicatory inscription of Goncharov on the book "Frigate "Pallada"" is given. An attempt to establish the date of the meeting of the future historian with the author is made. In the article the circumstances connected with V.G.Druzhinin's arrest on "the case of academicians" are reproduced, the dramatic destiny of his library, including the book with Goncharov's inscription, is mentioned.
