The article is dedicated to the analysis of the evangelical narrative of the Suffering and Death of Christ (Lk 23:26-56). In a very special composition presented in the Gospel of Luke, the key role is assigned to Christ as an object of visual perception. All the characters of the Passion Narrative: Simon of Cyrinea, many people, the women, the criminals (“thieves”) on the Cross, the centurion, and Joseph of Arimathea are involved in the key event of Gospel story. The evangelist Luke represents it in the categories of “spectacle”, i.e. dramatic play, which existed in the Hellenistic environment. However, in the theological context, this model is undergoing significant changes. The ultimate goal of the gospel “spectacle” is the formation and revival of the new people of God, who, at the foot of the Cross, finds God again and encounters salvation in the vision of the image of the Crucified Christ (cf. Lk 2:29-30).
