The idea of home in the values system of the Russian revolutionary in the story by V.G. Korolenko “Strange fille”

The focus of the research is dictated by the importance of understanding the role of the home in society. In the second half of the of the 19th century, when traditional ideas about home and family were changing, old foundations were being destroyed, the idea of home caused contradictions in the minds of Russian revolutionaries. The plot of the story is based on an episode from the life of the revolutionary Morozova, described by a young gendarme who accompanied the political prisoner to her place of settlement. The main point of attention is given to the personality the main character, a “political fille,” and her escort, whose interaction leads to a paradoxical situation typical for Russia. It is established that the artistic conflict of the work is based, first of all, not on the confrontation between man and the system, but on the opposition of the axiological positions of the main characters. The artistic realization of the true and false house in the perception of the character is analyzed. It is determined that a special place in the artistic structure of the story is occupied by the topos of the house, presented in various versions that actualize the most important philosophical, spiritual and moral meanings. Korolenko shows how in the minds of young people at the end of the 19th century, the House in all semantic meanings loses its main place as a universal human value. In the finale, the image of the Morozovs’ lost family nest correlates with the picture of the patriarchal world (being destroyed under the influence of social disenfranchisement and radical ideas), a world of Russia, which for all equally remains one common House.
