Ideological Interpretation of the Supperssion of the Rebellions in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Reign Of King Esarhaddon (680-669 BC)

The authors analyze the topic of representation of the enemies of Assyrian king in written Assyrian sources in historiography. They draw attention to the gaps in the study of this aspect of the topic of ideology of the Neo-Assyrian period. The study is focused on the representation of internal rebellions in the Eastern Mediterranean during the reign of Esarhaddon. The study reveals the specifi cs of the rebellions and allows to trace the connection between the “severity of the crime” and the subsequent punishment of the rebels by the king.
