Idioms as bearers of concepts

The paper deals with a review of idiomatic verbalization of the concept «wealth» in English and Russian languages; the study revealed idioms of different nature expressing this concept in both languages. The study made by the authors has proven that idioms owing to their inner form, to specifics of motivation and reconsidering of the meaning, render the core meaning with a large number of shades in meaning, therefore they allow to feature cognitive structures in a more accurate way, which the considered concepts originated in.
