Immune system in hematological malignancies

The lecture describes the main aspects that characterize the relationship between the state of the immune system and hematological malignancies. The main methods for studying immune parameters and their place for diagnostics of both the diseases themselves and immune disorders that occur during therapy are presented. The mechanisms of escape of malignantly transformed cells from antitumor protection are described. The methods and aims of immunophenotyping in the diagnosis of hematological malignancies are characterized. The characteristics of changes in the immune system at the onset of the disease and during treatment are given. Data are presented on the relationship between the state of the immune system and the therapy of patients with oncohematological diseases. Autoimmune complications and peculiarities of approach to vaccination in this category of patients are briefly described. The lecture may be of interest to hematologists, oncohematologists, clinical residents.
