The issue of the article is anthropological basis of pedagogical system of Carleton Washburne. Relying on the ideas of Americans F. Parker, D. Dewey, U. Kilpatrick, using the experience of Europeans O. Decroly, M. Montessori, R. Cousinet, E. Key, A. Ferriere, and others, as well as his early teaching achievements, Washburne has created Winnetka-plan whose innovative kernel was an individual training, the project method, formation of social competence, the child development, research and elaboration of training materials and comprehensive programs of teachers development.
