In the framework of the WHO program "Acute myocardial infarction register", "MONIСA", all cases of death from myocardial infraction ( defined and possible) were studied during 4 years ( 1992-1995) in the population aged from 25 to 64 years ( 70.2 % were males and 29.8% were females, 1091 lethal outcomes) who lived in the three districts of Novosibirsk. The analysis showed that both in men and in women, lethal outcome from myocardial infarction occured mainly in prehospital stage. The cause was sudden cardiac death. The most frequent risk factor was arterial hypertension. The results obtained showed that sudden cardiac death is main structure share of mortality from myocardial infarction.
