Trachers’ information culture in terms of strengthening traditional Russian values

Statement of the problem. The challenges of strengthening the value foundations of education in the context of digitalization and informational socialization of students necessitate an understanding of teachers’ information competence from an axiological perspective: understanding how traditional values and values of the information society reconcile, whether there are any contradictions, how students internalize the values of information culture, and what role they play in shaping teachers’ axiological competence. The purpose of this article is to analyze approaches to fostering teachers’ information culture and students’ readiness to develop it in the context of strengthening traditional Russian values as the axiological foundation of general education. Methodology (materials and methods). The methodological basis of the study is based on axiological and cultural approaches. Current research on the development of information culture in the context of strengthening the value foundations of education is analyzed. Methods used include theoretical analysis, synthesis, searching, selection, and systematization of sources, comparison of research results, generalization of the obtained data, and empirical methods (surveys, questionnaires, interviews, analysis of teachers’ reports from their work experience, discussions during scientific and practical events, etc.). Research results. Theoretical sources were examined, including research findings published in educational periodicals over the past three years (2022–2025), when the value-based development of the Russian education system has been strengthened. Empirical research data was analyzed. Concepts were developed regarding the role of the axiological approach in contemporary research on the development of personal information culture and in preparing teachers to convey traditional Russian values in the context of digitalization of education, taking into account identified gaps and teachers’ needs in relation to educational practice. Conclusion. The study concludes that there is a trend toward strengthening the axiological approach to the development of information culture and a contradiction between the importance of traditional values and the individual’s information culture, on the one hand, and insufficient understanding and methodological support for their integration, on the other. Strengthening traditional values in the information society requires considering them as the foundation for the development of an individual’s information culture, their fundamental role in shaping the content of information flows and the quality of the virtual environment; focusing information activities on the benefit of Russian society; and strengthening moral norms of interaction in virtual space.
