The article deals with the problems of the infl uence of the development of the digital economy on higher education in Russia. Various historically established approaches to education and the innovations, that are due to the introduction of new informational technologies in this area, are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the differentiation of universities to the levels and the formation of databases and video courses, which is focused on a signifi cant change in the entire structure of educational activities in higher education.
