Innovative system for university research and teaching staff in-house training in English

The study is devoted to discussion of organizational and methodology solutions that enabled profound revamping of Tomsk Polytechnic University in-house training system for university research and teaching staff mastering English and training to deliver professional performance by means of English language. Considering Tomsk Polytechnic University experience, transformations in the goal-settings and obtaining measurable learning outcomes are presented: learning tasks and achievements of in-house system participants are suggested to be delivered in the format of language and professional portfolio within the training fields «Foreign Language Training» and «Develop-ment of Research and Training Competences for University Research and Teaching Staff (Pedagogy)». Design and realization of new portfolio of training programs was performed with the implementation of backward design principles. In direct relation to the professional and professionally-viable skills and competences are the learning objectives, content and delivery methods for newly formulated three tracks: academic, business-related (office desk, corporate) and professional; as well as learning outcomes potentially implementable into university teaching and research.
