Innovative ideas for the presentation of generic collections, for example the Iridarium exposition (past, present, future)

In the Botanical Garden of Peter the Great, BIN RAS, for more than 50 years, there has been a special thematic exposition - Iridarium, which is the richest base for scientific research work and a favorite resting place for visitors to the botanical garden. The first innovative idea is the creation of Iridarium itself, instead of beds the plants are located in various modules with hills and ponds, with the inclusion of other ornamental plants. For the presentation of the exposition, explanatory shields, information signs, rare and beautifully flowering plants are equipped with labels. Another innovative idea, which our Iridariya team came up with and implemented, was the creation of the site www.flower-iris.ru. Work with him was conducted in two stages. Now the structure of the site is clear and understandable. A mirror English version has been completed. There is a link site, 3d-plan and virtual 3d-tour. A new stage in the introduction of innovative ideas on Iridarium is supposed to begin with Instagram, laying out photographs, with small textual information and preparing virtual tours of Iridarium. For greater attraction in the recreation area on the site near the pine, where lectures are held, for the visitors we can organize an additional services, we will give the opportunity to connect to the Internet troughout Wi-Fi, use the charging for the phone, or download e-books to smartphone. In any case, innovative ideas for the presentation of generic collections contribute to improving the quality of knowledge with the collection and expand the possibilities of its presentation to visitors, regardless of their age, health status and financial capabilities.
