"Foreign education" in the South Ural as a subject of study of regional historiography (1869-2004)

The article provides an analysis of the main directions of development of regional historiography of «foreign education» in the pre-revolutionary, Soviet, and modern (until 2004) periods. The author identifies the characteristic features and peculiarities of studying this issue at each of these stages, and highlights the shortcomings that led researchers to look for a new methodological basis. The article ends with the conclusion that the development of the historiography of «foreign education» after 2004 requires a special analysis.
