Foreign languages in a medical university: implementation of Federal State Educational Standards

The article discusses the issues of teaching a foreign language in a medical university in the context of the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard. The authors note the obvious insufficiency of foreign language proficiency at the level of everyday communication for obtaining scientific information and professional communication of future qualified specialists. The object of the study is ways to overcome contradictions between the requirements of the educational standard and the practice of teaching a foreign language. The relevance of the research lies in the fact that the modern concept of language education is aimed at professionally oriented teaching of a foreign language, which is training based on taking into account the needs of students in learning a foreign language dictated by the peculiarities of their future profession or specialty. Knowledge of a foreign language gives an opportunity to a future medical professional to improve their qualifications, as well as to increase the level of their knowledge.
