This article is devoted to the problems of implementing the mechanism and legislative consolidation of the institution of recusal and self-recusal of judges, as a procedural guarantee of the independence of judges. This institution acts as a guarantee of the implementation of the principle of the independence of judges to the extent that it allows, by means of a challenge or self-withdrawal, to remove a judge from the process if there are circumstances that cast doubt on his independence and impartiality.
