The article is devoted to the disclosure of the legal essence of the institution of representation in the civil process as a legal means, allowing a person to participate simultaneously in several legal relations in the absence of such physical opportunity. An attempt has been made to characterize the external and internal aspects of judicial representation as a system of procedural legal relations between the representative, the representative, the court and others involved in civil proceedings.
