The article examines the possibilities of expanding the body of communitarian ideas, including through their enrichment with Russian socio-philosophical thought. Communitarianism is mostly known only as the North American concept of counter-criticism of liberalism, which emerged as a result of the controversy surrounding D. Rawl’s book “The Theory of Justice”. The discourse associated with communitarianism aimed to restore democracy of universal values in the United States, which was threatened by an orientation towards excessive personal individualism. Russian studies of communitarianism are largely limited by the scope of this particular issue, but the “transplantation” of these concepts into the soil of the Russian cultural tradition has significant potential. The author suggests two areas of work: further study of communitarian discourse (including indirectly related concepts) in a socio-philosophical and historical-philosophical way, as well as philosophical explication, theoretical development of the concept of communitarianism as a whole.
