The article is devoted to the results of investigation dealing with the modern trends in the system of Supplementary Professional Improvement (SPI). In particular, with putting the following trends into the SPI practice: 1.. To integrate the potential of educational establishments and administrative bodies in order to meet 2.professional and educational needs of schools and their administration. 3.. To put experience from abroad into SPI practice in Russia. The above mentioned trends widen the opportunities for the SPI system on the whole. They contribute to the development of its mobility, enable heads of educational establishments to improve their qualification continuously in accordance with modern requirements and on the basis of scientific research, broaden the spectrum of additional services in the sphere of professional training
