The purpose of this study is to review the philosophical concept of complexity as a characteristic of self-organizing systems which include language. On the one hand, the complexity describes the language structure that is systematically generated by language properties. On the other hand, the complexity is an integral diversity revealing the essence of the language, so the concept of complexity can be a base for the language theories that investigate the evolution and essence of the language. Considering a language through the prism of the concept of complexity allows one to create an integrated theory of language based on dialectical principles, in particular, a principle of development. As a result of constructing the theory, the complexity of the language should be considered in terms of a variety of levels of difficulty, including the levels of structure, substrate, interaction of language components, followed by integration and convergence of linguistic theories.
