The interior of the dwelling of the Buryats in the second half of the XIX – beginning of XX century

The problem of transformation of traditional culture of Siberian peoples is actual for the modern ethnographic science. The development of one of the components of the life-support culture of the Buryat people, the interior of the home, in the historical dynamics of which has not yet been adequately reflected in domestic research. The author on the basis of archival and literary sources considers the transformation processes occurring in the internal interior of dwellings of the Buryats in the second half of the XIX – beginning of XX century. The study was carried out at the level of territorial groups of Buryat people. It is revealed, that in the time trends originating in the preceding period, continued its existence. Influence of Russian culture on utensils, furniture and other elements of the home environment especially true in areas of intense inter-ethnic contact (first of all from the Buryats of the Baikal region). To change the interior of the Buryat dwellings of great importance were factors such as trade and strengthening of positions of the world's religions (Buddhism and Orthodox Christianity) among the Buryat population. The conductors of the influence of other cultures and the main users of innovations were, as a rule, wealthy people.
