Internet discourse: the basic research areas and the tendencies of development

The article deals with the description of the following Internet discourse research areas (communicative, functional and stylistic, sociolinguistic, linguocultural, genre-discourse). The author identifies the key trends of its development. There is given a detailed description of the author’s linguo-semiotic model of the Internet communication including the constitutive and additional traits of the Internet discourse.
