Interpretation of the graphic novel "Kinderland" by Mawil in the teaching materials of Germany and Poland

The article presents a comparative analysis of teaching materials in Germany and Poland, which are aimed at studying the German language and literature on the basis of the graphic novel "Kinderland" by Mawil. The introduction gives the review of literature on the history and theory of the comics and the graphic novel. In the conclusion much attention is given to general methodical techniques and a biased approach to the history of the GDR in both teaching materials, as well as differences in goals (Germany's methodology considers the graphic novel as a literary genre, and Poland's methodology is mainly aimed at verbalization of images).
