Interpretational strategies of "patriots" literary criticism of 2000s

Literary-critical discourse is often interpreted as an overbearing discourse (M. Berg, V. V. Smolenkenkova, Y. A. Govorukhin). One of its main features is focus on the Other, which involves the use of various interpretation strategies and tactics. The purpose of this article is to identify and analyze the main interpretative strategies used by critics-“patriots” in articles devoted to “rustic prose” as axiologically significant for them. Traditionalist prose contains the national idea and is opposed to contemporary literature, which in the literary-critical discourse of the “patriots” is subjected to sharp negative assessment, it is condemned for its secondary nature, depicting “the seamy side” of life, trampling the Christian idea, breaking with tradition. The material of the study was literary-critical articles published in the 2000s in the magazines “Nash Sovremennik”, “Moskva”. As a result of the analysis, the interpretative strategies were identified, the use of which allows one to “assign” the writer and form his positive image. Often the articles of patriots are written in the form of a portrait essay telling about the most important, from the point of view of the critic-“patriot”, events in the life of the author, which fit into the system of their own value orientations. One of the main issues here is the interpretational strategy, which implies an indication of the fact of the writer's birth in the province (Siberia takes a special place in the value field of critics-“patriots”). Evaluating and interpreting the work of the writers, critics also point out their journalistic prose, a reflection of social problems in it. To idealize his “character”, to create his super-positive portrait, critics use the strategy of endowing the writer with a heroic beginning. The writer- “countryman” (or, alternatively, the heroes of his works) appears as a defender of the peasant way of life, a keeper of Russian, national. In addition, critics- “patriots” point to the prophetic content of their texts, as a rule, containing eschatological motifs. All of these interpretative strategies not only form a certain picture of the world in the mind of the addressee, but also participate in the process of self-identification of the critic-“patriot”.
